Amendments have been made to the political parties decree of 2013.
Registrar of political parties Mere Vuniwaqa made the announcement this afternoon.
Vuniwaqa said one of the notable amendments in the decree relates to the role of the media.
Any media organization that does not comply with the decree shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $50,000 or to a term of imprisonment of up to five years.
Vuniwaqa added that new registered parties will have to come up with new names and acronyms.
Vuniwaqa also said that they will refuse an application if it is found that the application was obtained through fraudulent.
