Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is now hoping that the Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited will become the top shipbuilding company in the Pacific.
Commodore Bainimarama said there is so much potential in the shipbuilding industry and it is already a known fact that the Government Shipyard in the past has built many ships.
He said many Pacific island countries need fishing and passenger vessels and this is one area that will now be explored after he had successful talks in China.
Commodore Bainimarama said talks are already underway with the biggest shipbuilding company in China.
