Lodging of applications for government services can now be done at a Government Service Centre.
This morning the first centre was opened in Nausori by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
The Centre is a one stop shop for at least 20 separate Government agencies whereby the general public can lodge applications for police clearances, tax income numbers or passports.
Public Service Commission Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said the idea behind the Centre is to pull the resources of government frontline services and provide them from a single desk.
Two more Centres will be opened in Lautoka and Labasa by next month and a third centre in Suva.
