Businesses and organisations around the country should be embracing the new Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) since time is now running out.
IT company Avonsys Limited Chief Technical Officer Frank Martin said businesses and people need to upgrade to IPv6 as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses are running out and will, by next year.
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical label that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network utilizing the Internet.
Martin said that since most businesses around the world now rely on the Internet, a delay in moving from Internet Protocol 4 to 6 may place risks to their online services.
Asia Pacific Network Information Centre's General Director Paul Wilson said it is critical that industry leaders assess the risk this exhaustion will have on their businesses so they can adapt to the changes it will present and take advantage of the IPv6 growth potential.
