A Fiji citizen in the British Army Lance Copral Jone Toge has been awarded the rare Conspicuous Gallantry Cross as 178 force heroes were honored yesterday in London.

The Galoa, Serua lad was one of the three soldiers from the same brave heart unit to be awarded the medal which is ranked below the Victoria Cross, the highest award the Queen gives.

According to the London Sun, Lance Corporal Jone Toge, Sergeant Alwyn Stevens and Cpl Robert McClurg showed extreme bravery to kill dozens of Taliban in the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan.

The trio are from the 1st Battalion, the Royal Irish regiment, the first time any battalion has scooped three of the top gongs on the same fighting tour.

Speaking from Deuba, his father, Jone Toge senior said he received the call from his son this morning informing him of the medal that he received yesterday.
