The Chiefs have suffered a massive blow with co captain and first five eighth Aaron Cruden expected to be out of Super Rugby for six to eight weeks with a broken thumb.
The injury occurred during the Chiefs 43-all draw against the Cheetahs on Sunday morning.
The most likely candidate to slot into Cruden's No 10 jersey is Gareth Anscombe.
The Chiefs meet the Rebels this Saturday at 7.35pm.
