The Births, Deaths and Marriages offices in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa will extend its opening hours throughout the month of January.
Attorney General and Minister for Justice Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that the step has been taken for more flexibility in accessing the BDM office by mainly parents and guardians.
He said this is part of government’s initiative to provide improved services to all Fijians.
The opening hours of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Offices from next week Monday to Friday 28th January for Suva and Lautoka will be from 8.00am to 7.00pm during working days, and the opening hours for the Labasa office will be from 8.00am to 6.00pm during working days.
The registries will remain open during the lunch hour also.
In addition, the BDM Offices in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa will be open to members of the public on four Saturdays which is the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th January from 9.00am to 1.00pm.
The Attorney General is urging members of the public to make use of these extended hours of service.
He has also reminded the people that they can obtain extracts of Birth Certificates at any of the Post Fiji outlets throughout the country.
