The government will not change its decision to cancel the annual Methodist Church of Fiji conference which was scheduled to be held in Rewa in August.
Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed just moments ago that despite the pleas from the church executives, their decision stands and the conference has been deferred indefinitely.
Lt. Colonel Leweni said no further talks will be held with the Methodist Church executives.
Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama also asked the Church leaders to reconsider their stand on government and remove politics and instigators within the Methodist Church.
After cancelling the conference earlier, the RFMF and Police stated that in the past few months certain figure head members of the Methodist Church have tried to bring instability to the country by using the Church.
