The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre is hoping for a better 2010 especially with their new National Networon the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Coordinator Shameema Ali said they will try to improve on their services, involve communities as much as possible on awareness of violence against women and children.
Ali also said services that respond to women must improve, as this year has seen an increase in the number of repeat cases on domestic violence and child sexual abuse.
The latest statistics shows that the number of repeat clients seen by the centre has increased from 708 to 979 at the end of 2009 and the number of child sexual abuse cases reported has increased from 38 to 56.
Meanwhile, A total of 96 cases of sexual related offences were recorded last year in the Northern Division alone.
Regional Police Commander Northern SSP Luke Qionibaravi has confirmed that the cases include Defilement of girls under the age of 16, Rape, Incest, Unnatural offences and Indecent Assault.
