An assessment by the National Farmers Union shows that the current drought has affected the agricultural sector in the Northern and Western Division.
National Farmers Union President, Surendra Lal said the sugar cane and cattle farming areas are the worst affected.
He said people in some areas also have their water sources drying up.
Meanwhile, the Nadi Weather Office has confirmed that the current dry weather pattern will continue for the next few weeks.
Acting Principal Scientific officer Forecasting, Misaele Funaki said we are on the onset of La Nina and during this time, rainfall is not expected.
