The government remains firm on its earlier decision that the Methodist Church of Fiji will not to be allowed to have their Annual Conference until 2014.
Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni also confirmed that the Church will not be allowed to hold their monthly circuit meetings.
Lt Colonel Leweni said in a meeting at the Methodist Church office this morning, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama stressed to the 130 church ministers that the one day meeting they are currently having is the place for them to discuss issues about the church and their members.
Lt Colonel Leweni added that the church elders were told to look at ways in which they can move the Church forward rather than government intervention.
Commodore Bainimarama was accompanied by Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni, Navy Commander Francis Kean, Lt Colonel Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, Lt Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho and Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni to the meeting which ended in the last hour.
