The government has revoked the permit for the circuit Methodist Church choir competitions and the gathering of all the church ministers, officials and lay preachers from this Saturday.
Permanent Secretary for Information Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said it has been established that those with political intentions have been influential in the planning of the circuit choir competitions which is a breach of the agreement made with the new administration at the Methodist Church headquarters.
Lt Colonel Leweni said a permit will be issued to the Church Standing Committee to hold its meeting on the necessary issues that is normally addressed in the conference proper.
He stressed that it will not be an extended Standing Committee meeting.
Lt Colonel Leweni stressed that the decision has been made by the government, police and the military.
