Every Fijian regardless of race, religion, colour or creed has a right to education and the government will ensure that everyone enjoys that right in the country.
Those were the words of Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama during the official launch of the Fiji National University in Nasinu today.
Commodore Bainimarama also said critics of human rights issues in Fiji have distorted views.
While addressing over 2000 invited guests including members of the diplomatic corp, donor agencies, the business community and representatives from various organizations, Bainimarama said some of these critics have a far worse human rights record.
Bainimarama stressed that human rights include social and economic rights which his government is now addressing.
