Fiji 5-a-side Make Perfect Start

The Fiji 5-a-side soccer team made a perfect start in their first game of the Vodafone OFC Futsal Championship defeating New Caledonia 4-2.

The Intiaz Khan coached side came from a goal down to lead 2-1 at the breather with goals from Sundeep Nair and Siga Ali.

The hosts defended well throughout the game but a lapse of concentration saw New Caledonia equalize in the last quarter of the game.

The Whites combined well and scored two goals in last two minutes through Kamal Hassan.

Fiji team coach Intiaz Khan said victory in the first game was a great moral booster and will follow their own strategy to counter the Solomon Islanders which looked the best team of day 1 after they thrashed New Zealand 5-1. In another match last night Vanuatu beat Tuvalu 6-0.
