A seven member band from the interior of Vanualevu have shown that perseverance pays after being rated the number one band in the country through a poll conducted by our sister station Viti FM.
The Band "Rescue Brothers" who hail from Koroivonu Village in Tunuloa in Cakaudrove are all cousins and reveal that it was a tough road to get to where they are now.
Band member, Beni Waqaniyalo said it all started in 1991 when they were in the village and since they had no money, they left the village to go to Taveuni to plant Dalo to raise money to buy their first band set.
He adds that they then moved to Sigatoka where for the past five years, the band had to sleep in sheds and struggle to put food on the table just for the love of music.
Their song, "E Dau Tagica" which is ranked the number one song on VitiFM, is a true life love song written by a band member whose girl friend had left to join the British Army.
After hearing the song earlier in the year, she returned to Fiji and the two tied the knot last month.
