The calibration of taxi meters has begun this morning.
Fiji Taxi Union General Secretary Rishi Ram said that everything is going according to plan and by mid night all the taxi meters will read the new fares.
Ram said that the three taxi meter agents will only do the calibration and not the sealing of the meters.
There are at least 8,000 taxis in Fiji.
The new taxi fare drop distance will now be 10 cents for every 100 meters which was previously 10 cents for every 200 meters.
