The former Roko Tui Rewa Savenaca Kamikamica appeared in Nausori Magistrate court after fresh charges were laid against him by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption.
Kamikamica is charged with two counts of obtaining goods by false pretense and he appeared before Magistrate Salesi Temo under Bench Warrant arrest because he had failed to appear in court for another matter.
It is alleged that in 2005, between May 11th to 24th December, Kamikamica obtained goods from Suncourt Hardware saying that they were required by the Rewa Provincial Council Office under the Development Assistance Scheme, however the items taken were allegedly for personal use.
Kamikamica pleaded not guilty to both counts and was ordered to pay a $3000 bail. The case has been adjourned till July 1st.
Kamikamica is also facing another charge of larceny by servant for which he has asked for the matter to be transferred to the High Court. FICAC Prosecutor Paul Madigan asked the court to set bail conditions that he is not to interfere with the witnesses and to surrender all travel documents as he was at a flight risk.
Magistrate Temo agreed to the conditions ordering Kamikamica to surrender his travel documents and further added a $5000 bail fee.
