The parents of a newborn baby boy are urgently appealing for public assistance to raise approximately $157,000 for life-saving heart surgery in New Zealand.

They also need an additional $23,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs.

The baby was born prematurely at 36 weeks at the CWM Hospital through an emergency caesarean section.

The parents say shortly after birth, doctors diagnosed him with Transposition of the Great Arteries, a serious congenital heart condition in which the two main arteries connected to the heart are switched, affecting the body's oxygen supply.

The baby also suffers from high blood pressure in his lungs.

His parents managed to get a special balloon device and doctors have performed an emergency heart procedure.

People who wish to assist can make contributions through BSP Bank Account: 10284025, Account Name: Ajay Ashwin Prasad or via MPAiSA on 9129351/9475737.
