Drivers are reminded that additional vehicle fittings, alterations or modifications must go through the required Land Transport Authority approval.
This follows the incident at a car show held at Namaka Public School in Nadi last Saturday where the car was destroyed due to a fire.
LTA says it does not approve vehicle modifications that cause sparks, flames or fire to come out of exhaust systems.
LTA Acting Chief Executive Officer, Makitalena Drova says such modifications are not acceptable under its vehicle safety and compliance requirements.
She says all vehicles displayed or operated at such events must be registered and comply with the Land Transport Act, relevant regulations and vehicle inspection standards.
She says this is to ensure modifications do not compromise road safety or breach vehicle construction and equipment requirements.
Meanwhile, the Authority is urging event organisers to put adequate safety measures in place following public concerns about the incident.
The Acting CEO says organisers must ensure appropriate emergency arrangements are available, including access to firefighting equipment and medical assistance.
Drova adds that potential fire hazards, safety risks and occupational health and safety concerns must be identified and addressed to protect participants, exhibitors and members of the public.
She says while it supports responsible vehicle enthusiasm and the development of Fiji's automotive community, public safety and compliance with regulations must remain a priority.
