Oleksandr Usyk has defended his WBC heavyweight title against Rico Verhoeven at the Pyramids of Giza.
The referee was forced to stop the fight in round 11 as the Ukrainian won by technical knockout.
Usyk had dropped Verhoeven with a left uppercut in round 11, with the Dutch fighter beating the referee’s 10-count.

The defending champion then moved in and unleashed a flurry of punches before the referee stepped in to stop the contest.
The fight was stopped at 2 minutes and 59 seconds of round 11.
The result also means that Usyk retains his WBA ‘super’ and IBF belts.
