Tedesco named at fullback for NSW Blues in Origin opener

James Tedesco has been named at fullback for the NSW Blues ahead of the opening game of the 2026 State of Origin series at Sydney’s Accor Stadium next week.

Tedesco will be playing his 24th State of Origin match for the Blues.


NSW coach Laurie Daley has named six debutants in the side, with Cronulla prop Addin Fonua-Blake and Roosters back-rower Victor Radley included in the starting lineup, while Tolu Koula fills the wing spot vacated by Zac Lomax, who has moved on to the Western Force.

Panthers captain Nathan Cleary retains his halfback position, with teammate Isaiah Yeo named captain of the side.

The NSW Blues will take on the Queensland Maroons at 10.10pm next Wednesday.
