Team Fiji to feature in 9 sports at Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Team Fiji will be participating in nine sports at the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games, which will be held from 23rd July to 2nd August.

Rugby 7s is no longer part of the Commonwealth Games.

Team Fiji Chef de Mission Ajay Ballu says they are looking at sending about 72 athletes to represent Team Fiji after the qualification stages.

He says the nine sports Team Fiji will participate in include basketball, athletics, para-athletics, para-powerlifting, bowling, boxing, judo, weightlifting and swimming.

Meanwhile, Ballu will lead Team Fiji at upcoming international events, including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, from 31st October to 13th November, and also the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

FASANOC CEO Vanessa Kilner says they are looking at developing a framework that can help sports administrators in their own clubs and federations to help them be section managers.

She says this is a pathway they are looking at to develop chef de mission, who can lead the team in the future.
