Tavitavi Volleyball Tournament brings youth together at FMF Gymnasium

A couple, Jona Uluinaceva and Ilisapeci Toga and few other friends have taken the initiative to host a volleyball tournament at the FMF Gymnasium, with the competition currently underway.

He says the tournament is called Tavitavi, a term commonly used by youth in their community as a slang reference to volleyball.

Uluinaceva says this is their first time organising a tournament, so they have limited participation to 15 teams.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, Uluinaceva says they believe sports can help drive positive change, especially as drug issues continue to affect many young people in their area.

The prize money for the men’s division is $2,000 for the winner, $700 for the runner-up, and $150 for each semi-finalist.

In the women’s division, the winner will receive $1,000, the runner-up gets $500, and semi-finalists will each receive $150.
