Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to Spain for specialist treatment after suffering a hamstring injury that has been described as more serious than initially feared.

The 41-year-old forward, who plays for Al-Nassr FC in the Saudi Pro League, was forced off during his side’s 3–1 victory over Al-Fayha FC last weekend.

The injury raises doubts about whether Ronaldo will be available for the Portugal national team in upcoming international friendlies against Mexico on March 29th and the United States men’s national team on April 1st.

Despite his age, Ronaldo has enjoyed an impressive season with Al-Nassr, scoring 21 goals in 22 league appearances.

Across his remarkable career, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 965 goals and has previously stated that he does not plan to retire until he reaches the milestone of 1,000 goals.
