Rewa Rugby Union receives first-ever major sponsorship from FMF

More athletes are set to benefit after the Rewa Rugby Union secures first ever major sponsorship from FMF, strengthening grassroots rugby and investing in the future of Fijian sport.

Rewa Rugby Football Union President Ro Macanawai Mataitini describes the partnership as a landmark day for the union, noting that it is the first time in its history that Rewa has received a sponsorship of this magnitude.

Mataitini says the partnership will directly strengthen the union’s programmes, support players and coaches, and help grow the game across Rewa Province.

Meanwhile, FMF Group Marketing Manager Maria Kumar says the company was particularly moved by the union’s commitment and determination.

Kumar says that even without sponsorship, the union made every effort to ensure players did not give up, demonstrating strong leadership and resilience.

She adds that Rewa Rugby’s clear player development pathway, participation in various provincial competitions including the Vanua Championship, and its ambition to return to the Skipper Cup were key factors in FMF’s decision.

Kumar further highlights the union’s commitment to nurturing local talent from grassroots club level and its continued investment in experienced coaching staff with high-level qualifications to improve strategic play and individual skills.
