Rewa FC looks to bounce back after 4-1 loss to Galaxy FC
PC: OFC

Rewa FC coach Tevita Waranaivalu says the side must improve its performance and finishing after suffering a 4-1 loss to Galaxy FC in the OFC Men’s Champions League.

Waranaivalu says Rewa conceded a simple goal in the first half that could have been stopped and admitted the team did not perform to its standard in the opening half.

He says despite the loss, he was pleased with the players for continuing to fight until the final whistle.

The coach says Rewa created several chances, particularly in the second half, but failed to convert them, adding the missed opportunities affected the team.

He believes Rewa could have reduced the deficit or even won the match if it had finished its chances.

Waranaivalu says the team will now review the match, take the positives from it and work on improving before its next two games.

He also explains that key player Setareki Hughes was initially left on the bench after suffering a knee injury during training.

The coach says he did not want to force Hughes to play in the first half, but his introduction after halftime contributed significantly to the creation of opportunities.

Rewa will now turn its attention to its remaining two matches.

Waranaivalu  says the team will return, assess its performance and look to come back stronger.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Rewa supporters who travelled from Nausori to support the team, including a full bus of fans.

Rewa will now face Tupapa Maraerenga at 4pm Wednesday at 4R Stadium Govind Park in Ba.
