Police Blue’s Dranivotua set for World 7s debut in Vancouver

Police Blue player Akuila Dranivotua is likely to make his debut in the World 7s arena after being named in the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side for the Vancouver and New York 7s.

Consistency and hard work have paid off for the Police officer, as he has been part of the Police Blue side in the local 7s arena.

Dranivotua is one of three changes to the team that played in the last two tournaments — the Singapore and Perth 7s.

Coach Osea Kolinisau has said he is working on building depth within the team and would like to see how the new players take on the challenge of playing in international tournaments.

The Fiji Men’s side is currently preparing in Canada.

They have not performed well in Vancouver, having won only once in 2018.

Last year, the men’s side finished in the Bowl category, and they will be aiming to better this result, as their main aim is to win the series.

Fiji will take on France at 7.19am this Sunday in their first pool match. They will then play defending champions Argentina at 11.07am, before playing Australia at 2.56pm.

The Men’s Cup semi-finals are at 8.33am Monday, with the Cup final at 1.34pm.
