Argentina captain Lionel Messi says no matter how successful he is on the football field, he is simply a husband and father when he is at home with his family.

The 39-year-old, who captained Argentina to the 2022 FIFA World Cup title, says he tries to live a normal life with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their three sons, Thiago, Matteo and Ciro.

Messi says he spends time with his family, disciplines his children and shares the same responsibilities as any other parent.

He says despite the fame and recognition he receives around the world, his family helps keep him grounded.

Messi and Roccuzzo first met as children in their hometown of Rosario, Argentina, and have been together since their teenage years. They married in 2017 and have three sons together.
