Players need to make better decisions on the field and improve communication if Fiji are to perform well at the Valladolid 7s in Spain.

This has been highlighted by Fiji Airways Men's National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau, who says one of the key areas the team is focusing on during preparations is avoiding over-committing players at the breakdown, which he identified as one of Fiji’s weaknesses during the Hong Kong 7s last month.

He says the side is working hard on improving its defensive structure after players were found to be slipping off tackles too easily in Hong Kong.

The Fiji Men’s 7s side is currently fifth on the World Rugby Sevens Championship standings following their fifth-place finish in Hong Kong.

Fiji will begin its Valladolid 7s campaign against France on Friday at 11.40pm before facing the USA at 4.24am on Saturday.

They will then take on hosts Spain at 12.12am on Sunaday in their final pool match.
