Norway has reached the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals for the first time with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Brazil, inspired by a sensational second-half double from Erling Haaland.

After a tightly contested first half ended goalless, Norway found the breakthrough in the 79th minute with a goal from Haaland from just outside the penalty area.

The Manchester City striker struck again in the 90th minute to double Norway's advantage and put his side on the brink of the last eight.

The brace took Haaland's tournament tally to seven goals, drawing him level with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé at the top of the Golden Boot standings.

Brazil pulled one back deep into stoppage time when Neymar converted a penalty in the 100th minute, but it proved too late to spark a comeback as Norway held on for a famous victory.

Haaland's match-winning display was one of the standout performances of the tournament, leading his nation to one of the greatest victories in Norwegian football history.

Norway will play the winner of the England and Mexico clash on Sunday at 9am.

Meanwhile, in another last-16 match, the England and Mexico match was delayed due to bad weather and is now expected to start at 1pm.
