The Vodafone Fijiana XV have successfully defended their Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship title with a dominant 60–7 victory over Manu Sina at Four R Stadium in Govind Park, Ba.
The Fijiana delivered another clinical performance following their emphatic win over Tonga last week, finishing the tournament unbeaten and firmly establishing their status as the region’s top side.
Fiji ran in nine tries in an impressive all-round display, with winger Aqela Raitubu leading the charge with a hat-trick, while powerful number eight Manuqalo Komaitai crossed twice.
Additional tries came from Merewairita Neivoha, Tiana Robanakadavu, Vika Nakacia, and Sulita Waisega.
Fullback Litiana Vueti was influential with the boot, slotting six conversions and adding a penalty goal to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Head coach Mike Legge praised his side’s commitment to their process rather than focusing on title defence.
He says he thinks defending this trophy has not really come into their conversations at all during this tournament.
Legge says it was just about staying disciplined to their process.
He adds that they strayed from their game plan a few times, but when the team sticks to the process, they show what they are capable of, and he is very happy.
The team will now take a short break before turning their attention to upcoming Super W preparations.
With back-to-back wins and a successful title defence, Fijiana XV have laid down a strong marker as they continue building toward higher-level international competition.
