Fijiana goes down fighting 38-24 to Australia

The Fijiana team fought hard in their opening match against Australia but went down 38–24, despite showing some impressive rugby in Vancouver.

Australia applied strong pressure by competing aggressively at the rucks and mauls. Fiji responded well with the same tactics, which helped them stay within range throughout the first half.

Fiji managed to score some brilliant tries to reduce the deficit and keep the contest alive.

However, Australia had the final say, crossing for the last try of the match to seal a 38–24 victory.

Fijiana will next face the USA at 12:57pm and Canada at 4:46pm in their remaining pool matches.

The Women’s semi-final will be held at 9.17am tomorrow, with the final at 2.05pm.
