The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are looking for a podium finish at the Hong Kong 7s this weekend as they aim to improve on their performance in the World 7s Championship.

While speaking from Hong Kong, Coach Richard Walker says they had their ups and downs during the World Series, and with the Hong Kong 7s being the first tournament of the World 7s Championship, they need to maintain consistency as every team is starting from zero.

He highlighted that they can match Australia and New Zealand, with their training intensifying.

Walker adds that the players are pushing themselves hard in training.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will open their Hong Kong 7s campaign against Japan at 8.44pm Friday. They will then take on Brazil at 12.01am Saturday before meeting New Zealand at 5.01pm Saturday in their final pool match.

The women’s Cup quarter-finals will start at 9.13pm Saturday, the semi-finals will be held at 5.14pm Sunday, and the final is scheduled for 10.35pm Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s side has won the Hong Kong 7s 19 times, more than any other team since its inception in 1976.

Their first match will be against Germany at 5.11pm Friday, followed by Great Britain at 8.21pm, before taking on France at 4.13pm Saturday in their final pool match.

The men’s Cup quarter-finals will start at 10.03pm on Saturday, the semi-finals at 6pm on Sunday, and the final at 11.14pm on Sunday.
