Litia Tikoisuva and Losalini Tukai will be hoping to keep Fiji's semi-final hopes alive when they take on Kenya after going down 2-0 to Wales in their second-round clash in Glasgow.
The experienced Fijian pair went down 0-8, 3-5 to Amy Williams and Lauren Gowen of Wales at the SEC Centre today.
Fiji struggled in the opening set, failing to register a single shot as Wales raced to a 3-0 lead after two ends and maintained control throughout the set.
A crucial fifth end saw Fiji's first four bowls finish close to the jack before Wales' fifth bowl broke up the head to claim the full count and seal the set 8-0.
The Fijian duo responded with a much-improved performance in the second set.
They claimed the opening end to lead 1-0 before Wales levelled with two shots. Fiji then regained the advantage with two shots at the third end to move 3-2 ahead.
However, Wales levelled the scores at 3-3 in the fourth end before finishing strongly, picking up two shots in the final end to secure the set 5-3 and complete the straight-sets victory.
Despite the defeat, Tikoisuva and Tukai remain optimistic heading into tomorrow's third-round match.
Fiji now have one win and one loss in Section C after opening their campaign with a victory over Botswana and remain in contention for a place in the semi-finals.
They will take on Kenya at 3pm local time tomorrow on Rink 3, with Kenya still searching for their first win after losing their opening two matches.
