The Naitasiri Secondary School Under-17 team has started strongly in Round 1 of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary School Rugby League competition, defeating Nuku Secondary School 20–0.

Head coach Sakiasi Muakalou says that despite the challenges with their school ground, it did not deter the students from focusing on securing a win.

Muakalou says the school has six teams, and due to poor ground conditions, two teams have been training at Vunidawa Primary School while another two have been training at the Serea Primary School grounds.

He says the other two teams are using the school ground for training.

The head coach says that despite these challenges, they motivate the students not to give up and to continue training.

He adds that their aim is to improve their game plan and perform better next week in Round 2 of the competition.

In other results, Pundit Shreedhar College edged Marist Brothers High School 18–16, Lami High School beat RSMS 22–12, Leland Memorial School defeated Vashist Muni College 10–2, and Saint John College defeated CMF College 32–0.
