Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez says the team represented their country "in the best possible way" despite losing 1-0 to Spain after extra time in the World Cup final.
Fernandez, who was shown a red card after receiving two yellow cards in the final, was sent off during extra time as Argentina pushed for an equaliser.
The Chelsea midfielder says it was a privilege to be part of a group that always represented Argentina with pride, humility and commitment, adding that they gave everything for the jersey and never gave up.
He did not mention his sending off in his statement, instead choosing to focus on the team's effort and unity throughout the tournament.
Argentina fell just short of retaining the World Cup title after Spain secured a 1-0 victory in extra time.
