Drua hoping to break hoodoo at Eden park tonight

It’s game day in the City of Sails as the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua look to break their hoodoo and secure their first-ever win over the Blues in tonight’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash.

Drua scrum-half Frank Lomani and Blues captain Patrick Tuipulotu came together at Eden Park ahead of the match, holding the Joeli Vidiri Memorial Trophy, which will be contested for the first time.

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson says the team is highly motivated to play for the Vidiri Trophy and is determined to bounce back from last week’s disappointing performance against the Reds.

Vidiri is widely recognized for opening doors for Fijian players in Super Rugby. He represented Fiji in seven Test matches, played twice for the New Zealand All Blacks, and featured in 64 Super Rugby games for the Blues, scoring 41 tries.

The Drua will face the Blues at 6.05pm today.

Looking at the results from last night, the Highlanders thumped Moana Pasifika 39-19 and the Waratahs edged the Brumbies 30-28.

Meanwhile, the Reds will meet the Hurricenes at 3.35pm today, while the Western Force play the Chiefs at 8.35pm.
