Extra Bula FC face a major test today against South Island United in a crucial opening Leaders Group clash in the OFC Pro League finals in Auckland.

Today’s match could prove vital, with both teams looking to secure an early advantage in the race for a semi-final spot.

Head coach Stephane Auvray says the team is embracing the opportunity and sees the occasion as another important step in the club’s growth.

Auvray says it is one more game for the players to gain valuable experience and push themselves into the play-off positions.

He says every match is an opportunity, and reaching this stage is a reward for the hard work and belief shown by the players.

Auvray adds that the team will continue to grow and work together, and hopes they will become even stronger in the coming years.

Bula FC take on South Island United FC at 3pm at GO Media Stadium.

They will then face Auckland FC at 2.30pm on Saturday before meeting South Melbourne FC at 3pm next Tuesday. Both matches will be played at Eden Park.

The top three teams will qualify directly for the semi-finals, while the fourth-placed side will play the winner of the Challengers Group.

The semi-finals will be held on 20th May at GO Media Stadium, while the final will be played on 24th May at Eden Park.

The OFC Pro League will also determine Oceania’s representative at the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ and the quadrennial FIFA Club World Cup™.
