Nineteen-year-old Auckland-based Fijian citizen Rajat Rai has won the 2026 Fiji Golf Classic Amateur Tournament at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club.

While receiving his award, Rai acknowledged the support of his parents, saying he would not have achieved this success without them.

He says his proudest moment of the week was embracing his parents in tears after walking off the 18th hole.

The 19-year-old also thanked family, friends and supporters who travelled from overseas to be part of the occasion, saying he is already looking forward to returning next year.

162 people participated in the men's and women's grades with people came from the US, Canada, Australia, and Fiji.

After the 3 days of competition, Ishaan Shah from New Zealand who plays for New Zealand, and Rajat Rai were tied, forcing a 3 hole playoff, which Rai won.
