You can be the best in that position but if you are unfit, you are no use in that position.

These were the words of Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s Coach Osea Kolinisau to the media before the team left for the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles.

Kolinisau reiterated that sevens is about fitness, no matter how skillful or strong a player is, they will get caught out as there is a lot of space on the field.

He says during training, they are playing people in different positions so that they are pro active and not always reacting.

The former Olympian says he is fair to all his players but also wants them to be competing against each other for their spots on the team.

Fiji is in pool B with New Zealand, Spain and Australia while pool A is made up of Argentina, South Africa, France and Great Britain.

Fiji plays New Zealand in their first pool game at 6.06am Sunday, they then meet Australia at 9.07am, before facing Spain at 12.13pm.

The semi finals are at 8.07am next Monday with the cup final at 12.07pm.
