World Rugby Sevens Series to be broadcasted to more than 100 countries

The upcoming HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series will be broadcast to more than 100 countries and territories around the world when it kicks off in Dubai this weekend.

Off the back of a successful Olympic Games in Rio, the men's and women's series get underway on Friday at The Sevens Stadium.

Millions of live viewers tuned in last season to watch the Vodafone Fiji 7's team claim the series title, before Australia became the first team from their country to claim the women's series.

Significantly, both teams also won the gold medals at their respective competitions in Rio in August.

Coach Nacanieli Cawanibuka believes this is a huge boost for the sport and they are excited to go in as Olympic champions.

The forthcoming season will see CNN and the Olympic Channel join the long list of top international broadcasters who will showcase the men's and women's series over the coming season.

The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will play their first game against Canada at 7.52pm Friday and face Wales at 11.47pm.

They will play their final pool match against Argentina at 4.48am Saturday.

The Cup quarters start at 8pm Saturday, the Cup semis start at 1.41am Sunday while the Final kicks off at 4.33am Sunday.
