All Blacks coach Scott Robertson says they wanted to bury them in the Garden,” after their 42-10 win over the Pumas last night.

Robertson passed the first big test of his tenure with flying colours and said he was happy, because they owned the situation they had put themselves in from last week to this week.

As Damian McKenzie, Ardie Savea, Caleb Clarke, Will Jordan and Beauden Barrett ran in first-half tries, with Jordan adding another two minutes into the second spell, the All Blacks looked more dangerous than they had previously under Robertson.

Robertson says they created more opportunities and executed them, their timing was a little bit better and they created a bit more.

He says they played through the front door – banged that down quite nicely – which created opportunities out the back.

The All Blacks coach says they moved Beauden to 10 and Rieko to left wing and got Anton Lienert-Brown on and played the whole squad.

Savea captained the All Blacks for the second week in a row in the absence of Scott Barrett, who has been sidelined with a finger injury.

The No 8 led a dominant forward effort and said afterwards: “I’m tired. I put a lot of my energy out there tonight”.

The All Blacks’ win has them sitting second in The Rugby Championship as they enjoy a week off before heading to South Africa for two tests against the Springboks, who sit first after beating the Wallabies for the second week in a row on Saturday.

The Springboks host the All Blacks in two weeks for the third round of the Rugby Championship while Argentina hosts the Wallabies in Buenos Aires.
