A second string Wallabies side beat the Barbarians 31‑28 in an entertaining clash in Sydney but the win has come at a significant cost as two young gun forwards succumbed to injuries.
Former Test skipper Stephen Moore scored the matchwinning try in the 73rd minute to save Michael Cheika’s blushes in the coaching battle against Barbarians boss Alan Jones.
Moore’s try came against a 13‑man BaaBaas side that had lost star backs Taqele Naiyaravoro and Quade Cooper to the sin‑bin for late indiscretions.
In the end, the Wallabies deserved victory and scored five tries to four but Cheika’s mood was soured by hamstring injuries to key men Jack Dempsey and Lukhan Tui.
