Former national 7s captain's Jerry Tuwai and Rusila Nagasau both scooped the Fiji Sportsman and the Fiji Sportswoman of the Year at the 2022 Fiji Sports Awards last night.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the success of Fiji's sportsmen and women over the years has inspired future generations with sporting aspirations to follow and work towards achieving their dreams.

Rabuka says twice we have been crowned Fiji 7s Olympic Gold Medalists, and World Champions while our Women 7s team has won the Bronze medal at the Olympics. He says these achievements are no small feat for a country of our size and in just its second year in the Super Rugby Pacific competition, the Fijian Drua defeated the Crusaders.

He adds that our sportsmen and women have set national records leaving our children to break those records in the future.

Meanwhile, winning the Fiji Water Coach of the Year is former Fiji Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber.
