Former middleweight king Gennady Golovkin aka 'Triple G' has defeated former Ukrainian former Olympian Sergiy Derevyanchenko to win the vacant IBF middleweight title at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Golovkin needed this victory to eventually get that trilogy crack against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
The ringside judges scored it for Triple G Gennady Golovkin: 114-113, 115-112 and 115-112.
