Tributes have started pouring in for Brazilian football legend, Pele who has passed away at the age of 82.

The striker is credited with scoring a world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 career appearances.

He is the only man to have won the World Cup three times - in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

Brazil star Neymar in a post on Instagram says before Pele, '10' was only a number.

He says he read this phrase somewhere, sometime in his life but this phrase, beautiful, is incomplete.

He says before Pele, football was solely a sport but Pele changed everything.

Neymar says he transformed football into art, into entertainment.

The star says he gave voice to the poor, to black people, and most importantly: he gave visibility to Brazil.

France star Kylian Mbappe broke Pele's record for the most goals in the FIFA World Cup scored by a player aged under 24 in Qatar earlier this month.

He has paid tribute to Pele, saying his legacy will never be forgotten.

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo says a mere "goodbye" to the eternal King Pelé will never be enough to express the pain that the entire football world is currently embracing.

He says an inspiration to so many millions, a reference yesterday, today and forever.

Ronaldo says the love Pele always showed him was reciprocated in every moment they shared even from distance.
