Former Highlander Shaun Treeby will return to Super Rugby after signing with the Stormers.
Treeby, who played 50 games for the Highlanders and was part of their championship winning team in 2015, has signed with the South African side until the end of the year.
Stormers coach Robbie Fleck hinted last week his side would seek outside help to reinforce the midfield following a crippling spate of injuries.
Since the start of the year, the unbeaten Stormers have lost three international centres ‑ Damian de Allende, Juan de Jongh and Huw Jones ‑ to long‑term injuries.
The Stormers will take on the Chiefs at 3.15am Sunday.
