Sir Gordon Tietjens will take charge of Samoa for the first time at the Wellington Sevens, and his first game incharge will be against his former side New Zealand.
Tietjens, New Zealand's sevens coach of 23 years, takes over as head coach of the Samoan sevens programme from January 1st.
His first mission will be up against his former side and his two former players in Tomasi Cama Jnr and Scott Waldrom who are the Co-Coaches of the All Black 7s team.
There will also be a point to prove for Tietjens, who had been prevented from taking up his Samoan coaching job until January by New Zealand Rugby.
Samoa is pooled with New Zealand, USA and France.
