Sir Gordon Tietjens has suggested that the Wellington 7s should be moved to Fiji or Samoa.
The former New Zealand 7s coach told 1News that a country like Samoa or Fiji would love to host a tournament on the World Rugby Sevens Series.
Tietjens says there was no atmosphere in Wellington and it was like a ghost town.
He says Fiji is the Olympic gold medalists in sevens, and could host the tournament at their national stadium in Suva.
Meanwhile the Vodafone Fiji 7s team is pooled with Samoa, Wales and France in Pool B at the Sydney 7s.
Fiji will play Samoa in their first game at 11.36am Saturday, their second game is against Wales at 2.42pm before taking on France at 8.29pm in their last game.
The Gold Medal Quarter Finals will start at 12.58pm Sunday, the semis will start at 4.53pm while the final will kick off at 7.51pm.
