Samoa 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens has brought in two former captains for the Las Vegas 7s, aiming to topple their pool opponents, Fiji in the tournament.
Tietjens has named veteran Afa Aiono and last year's captain Fa’alemiga Selesele in his squad to travel to Las Vegas and Vancouver.
Former skipper Aiono will lead Tietjens' side in Las Vegas, playing his first tournament since Port Elizabeth in 2014.
Aiono made his debut in 2009, scoring 74 tries in 215 matches for Samoa and was part of their 2009‑10 series‑winning side.
Selesele's return will also bolster Samoa's chances over the next two rounds, having led them to their first tournament win in Paris last year since Dubai in 2012.
Samoa is 13th in the standings and their best finish so far was 10th place in Dubai.
Meanwhile Fiji will take on Japan at 12.09pm Saturday in the first pool match of the Las Vegas 7s.
We will take on Scotland at 3.08pm Saturday while Fiji plays its final pool match against Australia at 9.50am Sunday.
The Medal quarter finals start at 4.16pm Sunday, the semis will be held at 9.44am next Monday while the final will kick off at 1pm next Monday.
